The Magic Bear Book

It’s Christmas Eve. There is one more present to deliver and Santa will be finished for another year.

To Santa’s surprise, he isn’t alone, the little girl of the house has crept downstairs to give HIM a gift; her favourite teddy bear. Her little act of kindness sends Santa into a magical frenzy which results in the magic spilling out of Santa onto the bear.

A tale to reinforce how big an impact a small act of kindness can have on the world. Suitable for ages 1-7, the perfect story to inspire acts of kindness and create discussion around how to be kind.

Written and published by Lauren Jennings and Victoria Serra. Illustrated by Jonathan Hunt.

Why self publish?

Well, we needed the book to be ready for release at Christmas this year and from what we know about going the publisher route, it is a long road with a lot of things to tick off a list before we would even have a chance of getting the book in front of a publisher.

This certainly wasn’t the easier route by any means! Self publishing is a significantly more expensive option and there was a lot to learn. But it has been worth it. We’ve learned so much and had such a wonderful journey getting the book ready for release.

In addition to The Magic Bear book, this year The Doorstep Elves are taking their original stage show, The Elves and The Magic Bear to the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich and The British Schools Museum in Hitchin, Herts.

The Elves and The Magic Bear is an interactive, Christmas theatre experience suitable for the whole family! (Believers aged 1-92!)

When a bag of lost letters is found, it’s up to the children to help the Elves and Mrs Claus make sure there are enough toys for Christmas! Complete with magic tricks, songs, dancing, elf silliness, a GIANT Bear and a whole lot of Christmas spirit, this is a tale that centres around acts of kindness and the magic it can bring!

The performance will last 35 mins, then every child will get an opportunity to meet the Elves and Mrs Claus and receive a nice list certificate. This is not your average theatre setting where children are expected to be seated the entire time!

…The best thing we did this Christmas, and that’s saying a lot cause we went to Lapland.”
